Biography
Born in 1958 and raised in Milan, she spent part of her high school years studying abroad. She continued her studies at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where she graduated in History, specializing in economic history. While she dreamed of becoming a researcher or journalist, she chose the path of entrepreneurship. In 1982, at the age of 24, she founded Altana, which still produces luxury children’s clothing. In the following years, she became the majority shareholder of Replay Jeans and Save the Duck, both leading European fashion brands.
In 1992, Marina received the Bellisario Prize, followed by other awards recognizing her entrepreneurial achievements. She took control of companies operating in the fields of market research (Doxa) and digital communication (Connexia), later sold to investment funds.
Marina Salamon has always supported various charities, dedicating part of her time to the non-profit sector. She founded Web Of Life, an umbrella for the main charitable projects she has supported. Marina has four sons, aged between 26 and 33, has fostered two girls, and has adopted 11 dogs. Beyond children, she has a deep love for animals, trees, and nature. She also earned a degree in Theology from the Faculty of Religious Sciences.
